(23 Feb 08 - RV ) Pope Benedict XVI urged young people to "free the patrimony of Christ's truth from lies and distortions" Saturday.
Thousands of children and teenagers from Rome’s schools and parishes flooded St Peter’s Square Saturday to meet with Pope Benedict XVI, and hear him speak of the urgency and necessity of a solid, value-based education in today’s materialistic world.
They were also there to receive the Pope’s January letter to Rome parishes and institutions on the need to find adequate solutions to the emergency facing Italy’s, and in particular, Rome’s educational system. |

Addresses "Digital Generation" in Communications Message
VATICAN CITY, JAN. 23, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI has an invitation for young Catholics: to bring their faith to the digital world as they have "an almost spontaneous affinity" for using the new means of communication.
The Pope made this exhortation in his message for the May 24 World Communications Day. The message was released today by the Vatican, though it is dated Jan. 24, feast of St. Francis de Sales, patron of journalists.
The message is titled with the theme for this year's world day: "New Technologies, New Relationships: Promoting a Culture of Respect, Dialogue and Friendship."
The Holy Father said his message is particularly geared toward the "so-called digital generation," and aims to "share with them, in particular, some ideas concerning the extraordinary potential of the new technologies, if they are used to promote human understanding and solidarity."
The Pontiff called these new technologies a true "gift to humanity."

There are few reasons why the resource of Political Education for Youth has been made.
First, because the compiler has advantage by the statement has been written or spoken about Youth People. They think that youth people do not want to think or involved in nationality things. Actually, because of baptism, youth people has been called to involving in the unity in the world as the one who change and transform into the better world by more justice, humane dignity as our Lord want.
Secondly, when the animator or promoter would like to do some action, they find that they need more sources. So these sources become the supplement, also to answer youth people needs and upgrading the political education sources for promoters or youth animator. Just like another Indonesian people, youth catholic Indonesian is still in a historical border, behind pre-democratic to the real democratic way. So in this situation we need more sources about political education to make youth catholic Indonesian become rationalistic citizen and has their responsibility for our Indonesia.
